In March 2018, the Australian government announced that they would be slashing the number of visas they issues each year from 190,000 to 160,000.
That means 30,000 fewer visas will be issued to migrants which means migrants looking to move to Australia through the Australian skilled migration program might need to consider ways to improve their points score in order to improve their chances of being offered a skilled migrant visa.
One way we at Executive Migration suggest is that skilled migrants improve their English language skills and in turn score higher on their English exams which will allow them to obtain more points toward their overall migration points score.
The Skilled Migration Program and Employer nomination scheme requires that migrants have at least Competent English which is a 6 in the IELTS exam. By having competent English you will be eligible for skilled migration Australia but it doesn’t give you any points towards your visa application points score.
If you obtain a 7 on your IELTS exam you will be deemed to have proficient English language skills and you will also be awarded 10 points towards your visa points score.
If you obtain a score of 8 on your IELTS exam you will be deemed to have superior English language skill and you will receive 20 points towards your migration points score.
The higher points you score overall for your visa expression of interest the higher the chances are for you to get selected to apply for a skilled migrant visa.
